I also assigned a fader to CC11 on midi channel 1 and it worked to control Expression. TouchOSC lets you create custom controller interfaces, using a built-in editor, and then use them across all major platforms, from Raspberry Pi to iOS to desktop systems. For my example in my original post, I mapped a fader to CC1 on midi channel 1 and it worked to control Modulation. Hexler has introduced a major update to TouchOSC, a custom controller platform for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows. This is where I am confused at what to do. In TouchOSC Editor, you have to assign a midi message to each control you create in the editor (the controls than can be made are mainly knobs or faders). ![]() My question is how I would assign those knobs and faders correctly to control the ESP Synth (or other Logic parameters that arn't standard like CC1, 11, etc.) I have faders and rotary knobs in a similar layout to the ESP. From what I read, the quick access feature only makes sense to use when your controller has only one fader.Īs a test, I used the TouchOSC Editor to recreate the ESP Synth in Logic. By using TouchOSC on the ipad, I can create multiple knobs, faders, etc. The automation quick access is useful, but not what I want to achieve. I'm looking forward to some answers and solutions and please correct me if I'm wrong about any info above. The CC1 and CC11 control test I described above worked fine on Channel 1. To use the "Learn" function in Logic, does the Midi Controller have to have a CC number?ĭoes every knob or fader on a midi controller have to be mapped to a CC number? Would I just assign a fader in TouchOSC to an unused CC number? If this is the case what is the point of midi Channels? There are 16 midi channels to assign to in TouchOSC. What is the best way to do this in an organized way with a midi controller or TouchOSC? This worked great! However, I am not quite sure how to control "random parameters" such as knobs on the ESP Synth (or other plugins or synths that come with Logic). This was easy because I just set one fader to control "Control Change" 1 and the other to control 11. I made a custom template in TouchOSC and mapped the faders to control these parameters. I have some sample libraries for Kontakt which use CC1 (modwheel) and CC11 (expression) to effect the samples. For example, if I'm using a specific synth or specific plugin, I want to bring up the template I made for that specific plugin on my ipad. Ideally, I want to have multiple templates that I created on my ipad for specific tasks in Logic. ![]() Things like how to efficiently organize which knobs, faders, etc. I have read a lot of the manual to Logic and would like a better explanation about midi controllers. I have recently bought the TouchOSC app for the purpose of creating multiple midi controllers to control things like different Synths and other plugin parameters in Logic. All right I'm going to hit stop sync, get it out of syncing mode, and then we could all just save this for good measure, and now we're going to go back over to TouchDesigner. This question, I think, applies to other midi controllers and not just the ipad app "TouchOSC". If I hit done, now we have our UI transferred from the TouchOSC Editor to our IOS device. ![]() It syncs it, it goes back to the layout page, and now you can see this capital LAYOUT_01 right here that we created is there. Now I'm just going to click on the IP address here of the host that we had typed in before. Now we need to put the TouchOSC Editor into syncing mode, so we just click on this green arrow that says sync, and a little window will come open. Click whatever layout is currently selected, and we'll go up to the top where it says add. So what we're going to do first, let's go into TouchOSC on the iPad. Now that we have our UI built in the TouchOSC Editor, it's time now to transfer this to the iPad, so we can control it from there.
